Life Flight anniversary

Utah’s Intermountain Healthcare celebrated “40 years of saving lives" with its Life Flight service. Life Flight has transported 106,875 patients and performed 362 hoist rescue missions, according to Intermountain Healthcare.

High-altitude helicopter rescue

The Arizona Department of Public Safety released dramatic rescue video showing a helicopter lowering a trooper-paramedic to the ground to assist a person in rugged terrain. The rescue was the highest altitude hoist Ranger 1 has completed, about 8,900 feet, according to DPS.

Inmate firefighter rescued while fighting NorCal blaze

An inmate firefighter was hoisted to safety by a helicopter after becoming overheated while fighting the Hirz fire north of Shasta Lake, according to the California Highway Patrol. The fire is burning in Shasta National Forest with 784 people working to contain it, officials said.
